Teron's semi-interesting, often-boring History

Teron was born 16 turns ago in a small farmhold in Lemos. He grew up happily, but he was never satisfied with farming. He liked to listen to the holds harper, and soon the harper made the suggestion which changed Teron's young life. He said one night during dinner that Teron should go study at the Harper Hall, to become a Harper. Teron's parents said yes, because they had many children, and so the farm wasn't going to lose a precious worker. He set out the next day, and soon arrived at the Harper Hall.

Upon his arrival there, he was able to get an interview with the Master of Apprentices. Master Kestrel made him a probationary apprentice then and there. In no time at all, his days were filled with classes, chores, and the occassional party. He met a lovely Harper girl named Cindanna. She was still in love with Journeyman Catasothra. Soon though, she realized that she loved Teron, and the two became very close. He even wrote his song for promotion about her. It worked. He was then a full Harper Apprentice, after performing his song in front of none other that the MasterHarper himself, Master Charlton.

Time went on for Teron, and he decided to make archives is specialty, and so he focused on that. Then one day, his friend and idol Catasothra's life seemed to be shattered, when he and Tam, the rider of brown Timoth, went their separate ways.  Cata's love for Cindanna resurfaced, and when she made a tactless comment about how it could've been Cat holding her instead of Teron, Teron couldn't stand to see his love and his mentor in pain, and he gave a lame excuse about a sick parent and left the Hall.  Cata found him and Teron became hysterical, so Cata was forced to knock him out.  The force of the blow combined with Teron's physical and emotional state at the time sent him into a coma.

About a sevenday later, Teron awoke, and found Cinda next to him.  She loves him more than she loves Cata.  Good thing, because Cata soon found that Torin was the woman for him.  Anyway, time passed as it always does and soon there were 100+ eggs on the sands at Bahrain Weyr.  One day, Arial and C'zar and A'razi came to visit the Harper Hall for some errand.  Asarith got restless, and everyone went out to see the huge bronze.  Turns out, Zyelth, Arial's blue, and Asarith, C'zar's bronze, thought Teron would make an excellent toy.  They nudged him around a bit, then asked him if he wanted to stand for the huge clutch hardening on the sands at Bahrain.  Naturally, he accepted.

(From now they are in Teron's own words.)

Wow!  Here I am at the Weyr. It is so neat.  I'm making lots of friends, and there are people here I knew already.  Like Arial, and Rowena, who used to be Harpers, and Jouryman Gryphynn, and Rider Tam, and Healer Janna.  Plus I met Mishia, Jayne, and so many others.  Like the rider whose dragon Searched me.  C'zar.  Anyway, I am fitting in well here at the Weyr.  I pulled a prank on A'razi, the Weyrsecond.  I stole his tools, and hid them in C'zar and Tam's weyrs.  He punished me by making me clean the feeding pens.  Yuck.  Then one morning, Arial thought I was being disrespectful, (and I was) so she made me clean the storage rooms, which I stopped doing, because with 200+ candidates, they were spotless.  Then Arial thought I woke up to late one morning, so she told me I had to spend the afternoon attending to the Weyrwomen.  WOW!  That was fun.  I got to spend most of the after noon talking to Muireann.  She is the nicest.  Her and Aerinth, her gold, wanted a story.  Well, I'm a Harper, so I told them the story of F'nor and his brown Canth's trip to the Red Star.  Aerinth liked it.  We also get to touch the eggs.  It is the neatest feeling.  I'm in love with the Quill and Parchment Egg.  My specialty is archives, and it suits me so well.  Then one time, Rukar ran onto the grounds when he heard we were touching eggs, and he really upset Fabrinath, the senior queen.  Then I tol' the egg that it shouldn't be afraid, and Fabrinath just got angrier 'cause she thought I was talking to her.  Tam yelled at me for that one, and Ruk and I made a hasty retreat.

An amazing thing happened to me. C'zar came out one night, and he and I had a long talk. Mainly we talked about things like how I felt about candidacy and those eggs on the sands. While I still had the same doubts and problems as before, I didn't feel as bad talking to C'zar. Knowing that he felt the same way made me feel better some how. C'zar is a great friend. Then another night, he hopped down on Asarith, and before I could blink, I was hauled up onto the bronze and C'zar and I went on a whirlwind trip around Pern. We went to Fort Weyr, then the Hold, then I got to see the Harper Hall from dragonback again…I really miss Cinda. Then we went to Telgar Hold, then to the Southern Continent, and Asarith tried to knock C'zar into the water. When we got back up in the air, Asarith took off so sharply that I was certain I'd fall off. Then the neat thing happened. Asarith spoke to me. He said:

A tremendous whisper invades your mind, rich baritones mingled with the musky
scent of ancient incense lightened by the verdancy of growing grass. Asarith
thinks, <<I would not let you fall. >>

So much has happened in such a short time I think. I need to calm down a little. I can't sleep. Boy am I going to be tired tomorrow. But I am so excited I just had to write this down somewhere.   One day of Hatching passed and I saw my friends impress, but not me. Then the next day, after we had got some sleep, more eggs hatched. Silly me I thought a bath might be nice. So I was a little late. When I entered, I went right to Saran and Lissette, because she's a Harper and he's a Weaver. They are also my friends. Well, while Lissette didn't find her lifemate, Saran found Daergith and is now S'ran. But then right after that happened, a green dragonet marched across the sands and looked up into my eyes and wrapped her tail around me. Then I heard four words which have already changed my life forever.

<< My name is ... Kyrith >>

…And so, T'on begins his trial of Weyrlinghood.

Wow! They grow so fast. Kyrith is already a year old. Gosh I love her so much. I haven't had time to spend with Cinda, but wow.....Kyrith is already flying. Soon C'zar, the WeyrlingMaster, says we can fly while mounted on our dragons. It will be so grand. Oops, gotta go, Kyrith wants to eat.
